Artist Statement

McFarland paints large scale abstract paintings on paper and folds them into books. The paper folding allows new abstract forms and unexpected combination in the pieces. This piece stems from a dream and has two sides—a visual poem and a recollection. The books unfold and fold in the direction that the viewer chooses, the stories are nonlinear.
